MALA KLINE
Mala Kline (1977., SLO) radi kao izvođačica, koreografkinja i redateljica. Svoj rad stvara baziran na, i u, suradnji s drugim umjetnicima na projektima zajedničkog autorstva. Angažirana je u različitim istraživačkim, edukativnim i osnivačkim aktivnostima. Nedavno je završila diplomski studij iz kazališta na DasArts-u. Trenutno studira na School of Images u New Yorku te piše PhD iz Etike u izvedbenim umjetnostima pri Odjelu za filozofiju, Filozofskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Ljubljani, Slovenija.
Mala Kline (1977, SLO) works as a performer, choreographer and director. She creates her own work based in and collaborates with other artist in projects with shared authorship. She is extensively engaged in different research, educational and founding activities. Recently she completed her studies at DasArts – Masters of Theatre. She is currently studying at the School of Images in New York and is writing a PhD on ethics in performing arts at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Philosophy University of Ljubljana Slovenia.
Intervju
1. Od kud počinješ i kako?
Zainteresirana sam za ljude i njihov potencijal. Radim u kazalištu zbog toga što je ono igralište u kojem se mogu baviti stvarima koje najviše volim – kretati se, misliti, pjevati, graditi kule u pijesku i kuće od karata. Zanima me kazalište kao mjesto prisjećanja na pitanja tko smo bili, tko smo sada i tko možemo biti. Radim u kazalištu jer mi ono pruža priliku za maštanje, razmišljanje, stvaranje novih svjetova – paralelnih našem. Uživam u tome što se sve može stvoriti iz ničeg i iznebuha. Radim tijelom i maštom. Istražujem kako slike pokreću ljude, kako nas povezuju i razmještaju.
2. Kojim putem ideš?
Studirala sam filozofiju i književnost. Plesala sam profesionalno od 17. godine te putovala svijetom na turnejama s plesnim trupama. Provela sam polovicu života na pozornici. Uvijek sam pokušavala pobjeći od toga, no, život me iznova vraćao natrag na pozornicu. Na dan kad me dečko ostavio zbog druge djevojke shvatila sam da je kazalište moj jedini dugogodišnji prijatelj te da mi je životni ugovor s njim suđen. Čim sam to shvatila, moj rad je oživio i počeo me usmjeravati. Sada slušam samo svoj rad i nikog drugog.
3. Kuda želiš stići?
Prvo ću završiti diplomski studij kazališta, a zatim poslijediplomski studij filozofije. Kada vizija bude gotova sagradit ćemo centar gdje ćemo provoditi dugoročna istraživanja i stažiranja. Na kazališnim produkcijama radit ćemo godinu i pol pa i dulje. Tada ćemo to nazvati umjetnošću, koja će ujedno biti i umjetnost življenja.

1. Where are you starting from and how?
I’m interested in people and their potential. I work in theater because it is a playground where i can do all the things that i like most in my life – move, think, write, sing, build castles of sand and houses of cards. I’m interested in theater as a place of remembrance of who we are, who we were and who we could be. I work in theater because it gives me an opportunity to imagine, think, and create different possible worlds, parallel to the one we live in. i love the fact that everything can be created from scratch and out of the blue. I work with imagination and body. I explore how images move people, how they displace us and connect us.
2. Which way are you going?
I studied philosophy and literature. I danced professionally from when i was 17, touring the world with dance companies. I spent half of my life on stage. I always tried to run away from it, but life always brought me back on stage. So on day when my boyfriend left me for another girl, i realized theater has been the only ever lasting friend i had and i finally gave in and accepted that i was anyway committed to an indefinite contract with it. Once when i did that, my work came to life and started to tell me what to do. Now i only listen to it and nobody else anymore.
3. Where are you going to?
I’ll finish my MA in theater first, then my PhD in philosophy. Once when the vision will be there, we’ll build a center, where we’ll do long term research and residencies, and where we’ll work on stage productions for a year and a half or more. And then we we’ll call it art and it will be art of living as well.
Zanima me kazalište kao mjesto prisjećanja na pitanja tko smo bili, tko smo sada i tko možemo biti.
