Bend ANTENAT osnovala je 1997. godine skupina prijatelja iz zagrebačkog kvarta Špansko. Počeli su kao standardni rock-kvartet s bubnjem, basom, gitarom i vokalom, a s vremenom se postava širila, mijenjajući glazbene stilove. Bend je sve više nastupao, profilirajući vlastiti glazbeni izričaj koji danas nazivaju – subreggae. U njemu su sadržani različiti utjecaji, od reggaea i duba, preko ska i punka, do world-music elemenata, a svaki član benda sa svojim instrumentom pridodaje toj mješavini i nešto svoje: bubnjevi žestinu punk-rocka, brass-sekcija reggae i jazz atmosferu, gitare psihodeličnu notu, klavijature atipičnu harmonizaciju koja podsjeća na sedamdesete, a udaraljke afro-ritmove.
Za subreggae vole reći da je to jedna velika glazbena heterogena masa u homogenom izdanju.
U četrnaest godina postojanja ANTENAT su objavili dva albuma i održali više od 300 koncerata u klubovima i na festivalima diljem Hrvatske te u inozemstvu (BiH, Slovenija, Srbija, Njemačka, Francuska, Italija, …), a ono što je još važnije zauzeli su istaknuto mjesto na hrvatskoj undergroud glazbenoj sceni i skupili veliki broj poklonika koji ih vjerno prate i podržavaju. Trenutno rade na trećem albumu koji bi svjetlo dana trebao ugledati krajem ove godine, ali dio pjesama sa sljedećeg albuma moći ćete čuti na koncertu u sklopu Novog Ganz novog festivala u atriju Teatra &TD!
ANTENAT su: Nenad Kovačić – vokal i udaraljke, Boris Vidošević – gitara, Marko Fiket – gitara, Davor Barišić – bas gitara, Marko Gajer – klavijature, Ivan Škvorc – saksofon, Ivan Marincel – trombon, Vladimir Novak – truba, Bojan Horvat – bubanj, Marin Kobeščak – efekti, ton majstor.
ANTENAT je prvenstveno ekipa prijatelja, koja svojim zajedništvom, muzikom i osviještenim tekstovima pjesama (na hrvatskom i engleskom jeziku) šalje poruku koju možda najbolje ilustrira pjesma “Ima nas dovoljno (… vrijeme je povoljno)”, koja se može shvatiti i kao himna dobrom raspoloženju i kao poticaj na društveni angažman. Publika je sve to prepoznala pa vjerno podržava bend već dugi niz godina, kao i brojni prijatelji koji čine šarenu karavanu i prate bend iz koncerta u koncert.
Band ANTENAT was founded in 1997 by a group of friends from Zagreb Borough of Špansko. They started as a standard rock-quartet with drums, bass, guitar and vocals, but their setup has grown over time, together with a change of musical styles. As they performed more and more over time, they also profiled their own musical expression they now call – subreggae.
Subreggae is influenced by different styles of music, from reggae and dub, through ska and punk, to world-music elements, and each member of the band, with their own instrument, adds something of their own to the mix: drums add the energy of punk, brass-section adds reggae and jazz atmosphere, guitars adds a psychodelic note, keyboards an atypical harmonisation reminiscent of the seventies, and percussion adds Afro-rhythms. They like to say that subreggae is a big musical heterogeneous mass in a homogenous shape. In its fourteen years of existence, ANTENAT released two albums and had more than 300 gig in clubs and at festivals in Croatia and abroad (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Germany, France, Italy…), and what is more important it became a prominent band on the Croatian underground scene and gathered a large number of fans who faithfully follow and support it. At the moment the members of the band are working on their third album that should see the light of day at the end of this year, but you will be able to hear part of the songs from the upcoming third album at the gig during New Ganz New Festival in the &TD Theatre atrium!

ANTENAT is primarily a group of friends, which through its unity, music and conscious lyrics (in Croatian and English) sends a message that is maybe best illustrated in the song “Ima nas dovoljno (…vrijeme je povoljno)” / “There are enough of us (the time is right…)”, which can be seen both as an ode to good mood and an incentive for social engagement. Audience has recognized this and it has been supporting the band for a number of years, as well as many friends who make a colourful caravan and follow the band from gig to gig.
Ovaj projekt sufinancirao je HDS ZAMP iz fonda sredstava koje služba ZAMP prikupi na ime prava na naknadu za prazne medije, a koja se sukladno odredbi Zakona o autorskom pravu i srodnim pravima dodjeljuju temeljem Natječaja HDS-a za potporu projekata s područja popularne glazbe.
