Pitanje je kako već postojećeg korisnika određenog sadržaja u Studentskom centru osvijestiti o postojanju drugog, kako slučajnog prolaznika navesti na otkrivanje Galerije SC, te kako vozačima dati do znanja da bi se na mjestu njihovog automobila mogao naći adekvatniji sadržaj. Koncept rješenja ovog problema je precizno definirana mreža punktova duž cijelog prostora Centra na kojoj su predviđeni sadržaji za zadržavanje korisnika.
Nakon definiranja lokacija na kojima će se punktovi nalaziti, određen je sadržaj kojim se zadržava korisnika i nastaje „Gumještaj“- urbani namještaj za zabavljanje i odmaranje. Osnovni materijal za izradu tog urbanog namještaja su automobilske gume, kao znak tihog protesta protiv nepropisno parkiranih automobila duž cijelog prostora SC-a. Ovom intervencijom prvenstveno se potiče kretanje prostorom, što je simbolično i naglašeno materijalom čija je prvotna funkcija upravo to ispunjavala. „Gumještaj“ se sastoji od ljubavnog sjedala, ljuljačke, lounge sjedalice i taburea. Simbolička lokalna akcija dogodila se postavljanjem dvije ljuljačke na bujnoj krošnji u istočnom dijelu centra, na mjestu divljeg parkinga, kako bi onemogućili buduće parkiranje, te hladovinu prepustili korisnicima.
Gumještaj je produkt rada mladih dizajnera i arhitekata. Za vrijeme nastajanja samog projekta bilo je zanimljivo promatrati zadatak iz dvije perspektive – jedna sa većim fokusom na kontekst – prostor a druga na sadržaj – predmet. Koncept je proizašao iz analize postojećih prostora i sadržaja kompleksa SC. Cijeli projekt je obilježila međusobna razmjena znanja i vještina iz koje je na koncu proizašao Gumještaj.
The question is how to raise the awareness of an existing user of a specific content in the Student Centre about the existence of the other, how to make a casual passer-by discover the SC Gallery, and how to make drivers see that the place where they park their cars can be used for some more adequate purpose. The solution concept for this problem is a well-defined network of checkpoints along the Centre designed for attracting the attention of users.
After defining the locations for the checkpoints, we have defined the content aimed at attracting the attention of users and designed “Gumniture”– urban furniture for fun and relaxation. The basic material used for that urban furniture is a car tyre, as a sign of silent protest against improperly parked cars in the Student Centre. This intervention primarily induces movement through the area, also symbolically emphasized with the use of material whose initial function fulfilled that purpose. “Gumniture” includes a love seat, swing, lounge chair and an ottoman. Symbolic local action took place by hanging two swings on a lush tree in the eastern part of the Centre, once the place of wild parking, in order to prevent parking and leave the shade to the users.
Gumniture is the result of work of young designers and architects. During the project development phase it was interesting to observe the task from two perspectives – one focused on the context – space, and the other on the content – object. The concept is a result of the analysis of the existing space and contents offered by the Student Centre. The whole project is characterized by mutual exchange of knowledge and skills of which Gumniture was the final product.
